We are in the part of the year I love, and not just because it's the Christmas season. Four holidays in two months. Nothing better than getting free days and still getting paid for them. I hope all of you stateside have a happy Veteran's Day, no matter how you choose to celebrate it. As for me, I'm celebrating by sleeping in.

A happy veterans day? I thought it was a day for reflection and to remember the brave men who died in numerous wars.

That is the original meaning of it Goblin, and a lot of people do indeed attend special events to remember those who have died, but it also means a day off work for many, and there is nothing wrong with celebrating that.

As for me, the agency I work for does not let us off for Veterans Day. However, we get the day after Thanksgiving off so get a 4-day weekend at that time.

If I had the chance I would trade one of the holidays I get for the day after Thanksgiving. Having to work the day after makes it hard to do anything away from home.

I thought Veterans day would be on the elenth of November, not the tenth. Anyway, I'm kind of in a similar position, and loving my holiday that I gave myself after pulling out of university. In fact, since I have awarded myself this holiday, it is quite possible that I may add an extra week to it, just because the length of the holiday is entirely in my hands.

The official Veteran's Day is the eleventh, but when it falls on the weekend it falls on either the Friday before if the eleventh is on Saturday or the Monday after if the eleventh is on Sunday. It works like the Fourth of July in that regard.
